Creative Depth
Creative depth is not something that can be forced or manufactured; rather, it is an ever-present feature of a living universe - one we often overlook in our urgency to do more and be better. Cultivating a relationship with creative depth is a practice of listening and responding: an attuned dialogue with the ever-present creative currents moving through us and our environment in the
form of sensations, emotions, memories, images, dreams, impulses, and ideas, as well as the many and varied manifestations
of the more-than-human world. The wider field of life is always seeking expression and form. Our work is to cultivate and
embody all four windows of knowing: heart-centred thinking, present-moment sensing, full-bodied feeling, and deep
imagination.
We gently slow habitual patterns of striving and judgment - often rooted in old coping strategies - and bring care and
respect to the subtle, sometimes mysterious signals emerging in the present moment. In this way, the creative process
becomes both a pathway of personal unfolding and a form of participation in something larger and more profound: an
ongoing dialogue between inner and outer worlds that begins to soften the boundary between them. It is a gift received with
gratitude and offered back with reverence.
This work is not only for artists and creatives; it is for you if you yearn to cultivate and offer your gifts in the remarkable and singular
way that only you can.
“Everyone has an urge to create. Its expression may flow through many channels: through writing, art or music, through the inventiveness of work or in any number of ways unique to all of us, whether it be cooking, gardening or the art of social discourse. The point is to honour the urge. To do so is healing for ourselves and for others; not to do so deadens our bodies and our spirits.”
